The chief architect of the pricey new GI Bill education benefit for veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan war era could become a new champion — for taxpayers — against what he perceives as excess spending on military pay and on a new wave of Agent Orange claims.

Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va., a former Navy secretary and decorated Vietnam War veteran, risked the anger of thousands of veterans from that war when he won Senate approval last week of an amendment to block, at least temporarily, the Department of Veterans Affairs from paying new disability claims on three prominent diseases presumed linked to wartime herbicide exposure.

Senator Webb, a Vietnam Veteran himself, has won approval to STALL the newest three presumptive illnesses from the Agent Orange list which Secretary Shinseki had already approved. This is, at least for now, a temporary and 60 day freeze. However, if he receives congressional momentum in favor of what he is proposing, these three new presumptives, COULD be prevented from being approved.

I Very strongly urge everyone to submit your claims. I also urge you to contact your local Congressman and Senator ASAP. You can call them toll free in DC at 86-272-6622 urging they all take our side and override this amendment sponsored by Webb. It is not, I repeat, NOT supportive of the Agent Orange victims.

Webb does not only want to delay acceptance of the new Agent Orange ailments, he wants to stop them completely. He, like many others, feels that these ailments, especially ischemic heart disease, are due to the normal aging process. Well, I started with heart problems are 42, not 62. I had a resultant disabling stroke at 49, not 69. I had no apparent danger factors that would have caused either ailment at such a young age. I have waited 15 years for the VA to approve this breakthough. Sen. Webb is a politican who has all the benefits of the office he holds. He will never have to file a claim for anything with the VA.

This is exactly why these career politicians MUST GO!

We can't change term limits except by voting them out of office!

Our vote is our VOICE... if we continue to accept the "career politicians" we will NEVER see change..

Personally I do want change, IN CONGRESS, not Obama change!

I can't strongly word this enough to tell everyone who votes to vote in the Primary and against any incumbent NOW...

Then in November do NOT vote for the incumbents should they win the primary!

WE NEED fresh blood in DC and those who will actually listen to their contituents not big business and continue to line their pockets!
