NORFOLK - Veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders could finally get access to benefits.

Christine Brooks is a Navy veteran who says she suffers from PTSD, including painful headaches that make it hard to sleep.

She's been trying to receive PTSD health benefits from the VA since the 1990s but her claims keep getting denied because she didn't have direct combat experience when she was on active duty in the 1960s.

Christine is trying to keep faith in the Department of Veterans Affairs, but her patience is running low.

"It's frustrating. You get aggravated which I don't need because of my heart. You even get anxiety attacks," she says.

Christine says she consistently receives letters every few months telling her that they are still processing her application for compensation. The latest is dated July 7th.

Jim Davis, Veterans-For-Change

All the more reason why Veterans need to take charge of their lives, their medical care, and push even harder on the Veteran Service Officers to get claims processed properly, effectively and timely.

There is no reason in the world why a veteran should be forced to suffer or endure the ever lasting motto of the VA, deny, deny, until they die!
