No, that is not a reference to Shea's past lobbying to get Irvine ranked as one of the nation's most romantic cities.
I can't believe how a city council would be so eager to risk thousands of lives with contaminated land formerly owned by the Department of the Navy, former MCAS El Toro.
The land is saturated with TCE, PCE, Benzene, JP-4 and JP-8 chemicals and this is only a small list of all the contaminants all which cause cancer and all sorts of other illnesses.
The former base is also on the EPA Superfund list as being badly contaminated, and yet Irvine and the developer seem to think it can be cleaned up... wrong!
