If you are a veteran or know a veteran, you have heard the stories: hours of waiting, being known as a number, months of waiting for referrals, not to mention the standard of care received.
The Veterans Affairs Medical Center is known, by many, as hell. I would like to say that I am glad to see a change in the system. In the past two years, the VA has opened clinics in the community, made many of its services available online (even medical records), and I have gained a name. Now when I sign in for an appointment, someone asks me for my VA card, not my "last name and last four."
